Multi-tier racks are the perfect solution if you need easy access to goods in a human-operated warehouse or want to facilitate access in specific places. We have prepared three suggestions, but this is just the beginning. As usual with our storage systems, they can be combined and modifiedto achieve the desired effect.
The basic solution is based on proven models of racks. We have created extensions to our systems MRack® and Mshelf®which allow the installation of utility floors and stairs. This transforms them into fully-fledged multi-level racks tailored to individual customer requirements and warehouse capabilities. The proprietary Mezzanine® system allows you to create mezzanines, which, unlike traditional structures, allow for easy expansion and modification.
Multi-level racking floor systems
Basing the basic models of multi-level racks on the existing solutions has many advantages. It is primarily a common base of parts and components. This allows you to lower the price without compromising on quality and use. An additional advantage is the possibility of converting existing shelving units into multi-level structures.
Which floor will be the best?
And what to put on the construction? We have two suggestions. The first is high-density chipboard. Its thickness is 38 mm, which is more than enough to create a solid, smooth floor. At the customer's request, it can be covered with an anti-slip substance and finished in white on the underside.
If you need a more durable cover, it will be an excellent solution bridging grille. It is impact-resistant and easy to clean, although you should remember to protect the goods and workstations beneath it. Available in various thicknesses (from 25 to 35 mm), mesh sizes (30 × 30, 30 × 40 or 30 × 60) and many thicknesses of the flat bar will satisfy the most demanding customers and will not disappoint in difficult conditions. What is important, lattice structures significantly improve air circulation in a warehouse, affecting the well-being of employees.
Like all storage systems that we offer, our multi-tier shelving complies with European FEM and EN standards and ISO 9001 certification. When designing them, we use specialized software and carry out advanced static calculations. All components are laboratory tested to ensure they can withstand many years of industrial use. The automatic production process is a guarantee of product repeatability and optimal quality.
Construction of multi-level racks
As we wrote earlier, systems are the basis Mshelf® and MRack®. The former is intended for the storage of lighter goods and the latter for heavy items loaded by hand, such as machine components. Whichever option you choose, the work surfaces are similar. You can opt for a floor system, intermediate aisles or a combination of both. Depending on the needs and type of operation (manually or with the use of trolleys), the load capacity varies from 350 to 1000 kg / m2. This allows you to avoid over-expansion in relation to the needs, and therefore not only the amount of space for goods increases, but also reduces costs.
Multi-tier racks require a strong structure
The floor rests on C-profiles. Thanks to special fasteners, the transverse beams are fastened to the main beams without screws. This speeds up assembly and reduces the number of components, and has no impact on safety. The profiles have been designed so that it is easy to install lighting, wiring and other accessories in them. As standard, the beams are galvanizedand the posts are protected with epoxy paint in RAL 7024 color in the technology of powder coating. However, we can change this at the customer's request.
A multi-level rack based on the Mezzanine system
Our flagship product in this category is the Mezzanine® system. We have designed it specifically to create the best platform structures on the market. Traditional steel warehouse mezzanines are single products, and their service causes many problems. So she was a priority modularity of the structure, the possibility of its easy modification and adaptation to changing needs. This goal was achieved in one hundred percent!
They are made of steel profiles with a square cross-section. Their dimensions are selected depending on the expected load and type of use. At their tops there are L-type connectors to which the main beams are attached. If necessary, more connectors can be installed, thus creating a multi-tier installation. The stiffness of the mezzanine is ensured by bracings stretched between the columns.
The main beams are made of cold-rolled profiles with a C-section. The variety of profiles with a height of 150 mm to 350 mm and a thickness of 2 mm to 3 mm allows for precise adaptation of the design and materials used to the tasks facing the mezzanine.
Crossbars rest against the sigma profile to ensure high torsional strength under load. Like the main beams, they come in many sizes, and their placement is determined by the floor used.
Connection of a warehouse mezzanine with a pallet rack
Thanks to specially designed connectors, you can easily connect the profiles of the mezzanine and standard pallet racks. This solution is often used on collection floors or to support conveyor belts in automated systems. It increases efficiency and sometimes it is simply indispensable in a certain part of the warehouse.
Additional equipment and other structures
All our projects can be equipped with a number of accessories that increase functionality and safety. In addition, using our extensive catalog, we are able to create custom products for specific applications.
These simple safety features allow for trouble-free loading and unloading of pallets. Their size is adjusted to the size of the pallets, and the profiles are mounted at the same height as the railings.
Handrails and stairs
The stairs can be integrated into a bookcase or a mezzanine, with an additional floor structure, or be separated. Their size and slope (between 20about and 45about ) depends on the regulations and the available space. Our standard stairs have openwork steps and metal handrails.
Our handrails have been developed based on the design requirements for industrial installations, however ergonomics was the priority. The standard steel railing is 1100 mm high, the railing and the protection are placed at knee and waist height.
Free passage in all directions
Sometimes a free passage in all directions is needed. This is possible thanks to specially designed bracings in the form of a pallet rack frame installed just below the main and cross beams.
The use of multi-level racks
These constructions will prove themselves wherever simple and efficient access to all goods is needed, and where warehouse operations are performed manually.
